Dartmoor Walks – An Exciting New Book
I have just finished reading an exciting new book of high Dartmoor walks by the well-known Dartmoor explorer Ken Walpole – known to all as Mireman.
The book features twelve explorations into the highest and wildest parts of southern England’s ‘last wilderness’ – the walks being between 6 and 12 miles – Dartmoor miles, mind and that can be hard going. The book is delightfully illustrated and features maps and grid references for GPS users.
All the walks are well-described and Ken’s personality comes shining through, with loads of geographical and historical detail. I have walked with Ken many times – his knowledge of the Moor is superb.
Whether you walk Dartmoor often or want to start exploring the Moor, this is a good starting point.
You can order the book by post for £5 including postage and packing. Send a cheque, payable to K. R. Walpole, to Ken Walpole, 34 Meadow Rise, Dawlish, Devon.
I thoroughly recommend it!
