Scrap HS2
Plans to build the new High Speed rail link at a cost of 32 billion pounds is a disgrace at a time when we have pensioners dying of the cold in Britain. Like all building projects it will cost much more than forecast, and be nowhere near as efficient as promised.
Old footpaths will be sliced through, ancient woodlands destroyed, and beautiful areas like the Chilterns wrecked for ever.
The majority of people in this country will never be able to afford a ticket.
Far better to spend the money on existing branch lines so that all may benefit.
I really find it extraordinary that some of our outdoor groups are fence-sitting in their opposition to this.
