Forests Consultative Panel – Pros and Cons

March 18, 2011

It is great news that Tom Franklin, director of the Ramblers, has been given a place on the government’s consultative panel on the future of the Forestry Commission holdings.

More worrying that there are no representatives for the cycling and riding lobbies.

I wish the Panel well!

But it is important to remember that access is not the only issue.

Public opinion was overwhelmingly against ANY forest sales.

Members of the Panel must reflect that and not be tempted into any course of action that might compromise or sell out that public viewpoint.

More on woodland access generally on my website: www.johnbainbridgewriter.com
