Save Our Countryside

September 8, 2012

Stop them taking bites from your countryside Alongside the recent planning proposals put forward by the Government, we’ve found out about some major threats to England’s Green Belts – proposals are afoot which could lead to building over an amount of Green Belt the size of Slough.

These include: – an out of town shopping centre in York; – warehouses near Wakefield; and – two housing developments totalling 665 dwellings in Thurrock.
We understand that the Government wants to see economic growth, but all of this is taking place while enough brownfield land remains available, according to the Government’s own National Land Use Database, to accommodate over 1.5 million new homes and still more for commercial and industrial development. Building on the Green Belt is not just undesirable – it’s unnecessary.
Join us in calling for the Government to stick to its commitment to keep the Green Belt green. > Ask them to keep the Green Belt green
Your support for our campaign actions makes all the difference – we couldn’t do it without you.
Thank you,
