Horsey Mere

June 26, 2013

Our boat trip on Horsey Mere, in the Norfolk Broads, was very special.Norfolk 2013 211

For a start our boat had a special passenger. A swallow had nested on the boat. Not that the little voyage seemed to bother her. She flew off and on as we progressed across the mere and into the marshes.

There were other birds too. An Egyptian Goose nesting in a tree in a crow’s nest. Several Marsh Harriers, quite a sight as they swept over the reeds. Norfolk 2013 243Norfolk 2013 246

And Swallowtail Butterflies in plenty.

If you are visiting Horsey Mere I do recommend the boat trip. You will see such a lot.

You are making me very homesick for my childhood this last week or so John. Hard to believe so little has changed in Norfolk. Took the husband briefly back four years ago and it was magic. I wish we could spend more time in England

Some opportunistic birds down there, that’s for sure! Must have been great having a swallow nesting on your boat 🙂
