We need to be keep an eye on this, people – government preparing to sell off land (& woodland) – baldly clear (my interpretation) in the spending review. Why sell? if they sell, will they keep the accesses? THEY SHALL NOT SELL OFF OUR LAND. THE land.

    We’ve been quite stunned recently here in Ireland to find we’ve won this particular battle, at least for the time being. Previous government had agreed the sell of with the European Central Bank as part of the fund raising drive to pay back the billions we borrowed to rescue our irresponsible bankers but a couple of weeks ago the current lot announced they had changed their minds and weren’t even going to sell the standing timber – partly citing environmental reasons and partly because they didn’t actually think they’d make enough money to make it worthwhile.
    In the UK I’d just assume they are selling more of the country to their friends – the Bullingdon Club strikes again

    Once you start down that dark path all your forest will be gone! You need a new government, not a new policy on woodlands.
