Why we need the English Coastal Path

September 7, 2013

We do love to be beside the seaside. But over a third of our coastline is out of bounds. For people wanting simple seaside strolls to the more challenging cliff-top climbs – an England Coast Path would be something all walkers would love.

Some determined people will want to tackle the whole of the England Coast Path, many will want to walk chunks of it. We want ‘One Coast For All’!

It would be a boost to coastal communities

  •  The new Wales Coast Path put Wales on the map – Lonely Planet and the New York Times both listed Wales as one of the best places in 2012 because of the brand new coast path.

The England Coast Path is cheap and a great investment

Being by the coast is good for your health

  • There’s something about the sea air that’s good for the soul. A recent Government report asked people where they felt most calm and refreshed and relaxed and revitalised – the most popular answers were the coast and mountains.
  •  Physical inactivity is killing more people than smoking. It’s also costing the Government £1.8 billion a year. The easiest (and cheapest) way to get active is to go for a walk. We want to open up more places for people to go walking.
