Cyril and Kay Raymond

December 15, 2013

In Memory of Kay Raymond

Another of the old generation of Ramblers has gone, with the passing of Kay Raymond, just over a year after the death of her husband Cyril

I first met them both in the early 1970s. They led some delightful walks, and tramped over much of Britain. When I started the Teignmouth and Dawlish group of the Ramblers they came forward and led walks when I was very short of leaders. Before that they were founder members of the RA Moorland Group. They always turned up at Ramblers rallies and I recall their company when I led the CRoW opening walk on Dartmoor several years ago.

Cyril and Kay were “hands-on” ramblers. Always prepared, not just to walk but to put something back to make life better for other ramblers.

Their knowledge of the countryside, friendliness and grand sense of humour were second to none.

Cyril and Kay were a joy to walk with and will be missed by all their very many friends.
